a good day

brooklin is finally over being sick, yay! but, we didn't make it through without getting cousin jackson sick. booo! sorry shanna, we tried. :(

we had a really good day yesterday, which was great 'cause we all needed one after last week. brooklin was in a really good mood most of the day, she finally got her appetite back, so she ate pretty well, we played play doh for the first time, and the best thing of all.... she went poop in the potty! yahoo! i'm trying not to get too excited and get my hopes up, but.. how can you not be ecstatic. we haven't really been trying to potty train, we just got her a potty chair a few months ago to get her used to the idea and maybe she would show some interest. she loved sitting on it, but only with her pants on. but since she was sick last week she has been crying everytime she has to go #2. i think the diarrhea may have traumatized her this time around. anyway, yesterday scott mentioned that maybe this would be a good time to get her to go on the potty since she doesn't seem to like it in her pants. so, when she started fussing about going "pee pee" we asked her if she'd like to go on the potty, and she said yes. so away we went to the bathroom and she sat down, but didn't really want to stay. so, we sang songs for a few minutes until she got the job done. she was concerned at first to see it in there, so we reassured her it was a great thing and really laid the praise on thick. we'll see if this has started something, or if it was just a fluke. i still don't think i'm going to push it, i don't want it to backfire on me. we still have a little time. when she's ready she'll let us know. here's some fun pictures from yesterday.








i am so grateful that we are given days like these after we endure the really hard days that seem to last forever. it somehow makes it all worth it.
