a quick update

so, we're not done yet. last night we ended up at a walk-in clinic because brooklin was having major diarrhea (cha cha cha). seriously, i changed probably 10-11 diapers from about 1:00-8:00. i talked to a nurse yesterday morning and she told me to keep track of brooklin's wet diapers, to make sure she wasn't getting dehydrated, but there was really only one that i could count as wet because i was changing her so often. her poor little bum is so red today and she screams everytime i change her. i think she went through at least 3 outfits and several onesies. i finally just started throwing them away. i'd rather buy new ones then have to scrub poop out of all of them. anyway, the dr. at the clinic said she wasn't dehydrated and we were pretty much doing everything she told us to do. it felt like a wasted trip, but i'm glad i got peace of mind that she is going to be okay, and we just have to endure and get through this. she hasn't had quite as much diarrhea today, but i did change the worst diaper ever first thing this morning. so gross! but i would rather deal with poop than puke, even after all of this. she's still extremely fussy and nothing seems to make her happy. so, life around our house is still kinda miserable. at least scott and i are fine now. i can't wait for things to get back to normal. even semi-normal would be nice.

sorry, another post without pictures, but i guess that's probably okay considering the topic. :)

the worst 24 hours...and counting

i have been having the worst week so far. when i went into to wake brooklin up at 10:45! yesterday i found out that she had thrown up in the middle of the night. hence why she was sleeping so long. "oh great," i thought, "this is a lovely way to start a monday." she seemed fine at first, but then she didn't want to eat her breakfast and she didn't really want to play with her toys. so, i took her into her bedroom to rock in the rocking chair, and then she let me have it. curdled milk, all over me and all over her. now, i don't deal well with puke at all, so i've been absolutely dreading this day, and i knew it would eventually come, being a mother and all. i think i handled it really well. i didn't even gag. my mothering insticts must've kicked in. i was able to get her and myself cleaned up, and i was really suprised that it didn't get anywhere else but on us, considering it seemed like so much. so, i called scott and he came home for a little bit to allow me to take a shower and then brooklin thankfully went down for a nap, poor girl. i was hoping that this was the end of it. well, then i started to feel icky, and then scott too. when brooklin woke up she seemed to be feeling a little better. she had some toast and cheerios, and she ate pears for dinner. she went to bed just fine. i wish i could say the same for scott and i. i couldn't sleep because i was burning up with a fever and scott kept getting up and going to the bathroom. i was finally getting comfortable around 1:30ish and then brooklin starts screaming. man! so, scott goes to check it out, and then i hear the bath water start. great! puke all over her and her bed. so, after a half hour of cleaning up and changing sheets again, she went back down. i prayed we would make it through the night, and thankfully we did. although i only got about an hour of sleep. scott stayed home from work since he wasn't feeling well, and to help me out, thank goodness. we both haven't eaten anything since yesterday and still feel pretty crummy, and brooklin still isn't her happy self. but, no puke since last night. so, i'm crossing my fingers. i can't deal with this another day.

brooklin's stash

brooklin keeps stuffing things (mostly toys) into the hole of one of our speakers, and it's driving me crazy. we keep pulling stuff out and telling he "no, no!" then we'll watch her to make sure she doesn't do it again, but then a couple days later i'll notice that there's more stuff in there. it wouldn't be that big a deal, except scott and i have too big of hands to pull the objects out, and brooklin won't help us out. so, we're having to use a spaghetti server to reach in there and pull out her little treasures that she feels she needs to hide from everyone else. if you look closely you can see her brush in there, and i'm pretty sure there are a couple plastic balls in there too. it's frustrating, but also a tad funny i guess. what a silly baby.

beach bash '09!

last saturday night scott and i brought out our summer clothes for the first time in months. why you ask, because i'm sure you are remembering that saturday was a rainy, windy, yucky day. well, we went to the beach bash that the soft rock kafe put on at the silver reef. we had soooo much fun. who says you can't have good clean fun at the casino? :0) jessie and jonathan came with us and we went with hopes to win a trip to hawaii, but of course, with my luck we came out of that one big losers. but we still managed to enjoy ourselves. there was yummy food, a limbo contest, beach balls flying through the air, and we danced all night. that's right, i actually broke out of my wallflower shell and danced, danced, danced! i'm sure i looked like a fool but i didn't really care, i was having way too much fun. now, if only the sun would make it's appearance so i don't have to put those summer clothes away again. yeah right, i know, i'm kidding myself. well, i'll see ya in a couple months summer wardrobe. sun, please hurry back to us. we miss you!

the duck pond

last thursday we fed the ducks at the pond at the canterbury court apartments where scott and i used to live a few years ago. brooklin had a blast watching the ducks, but didn't really want to share the bread.

i was amazed the ducks were still hanging around considering half of the pond was frozen over. have you ever seen ducks ice skate? it was pretty funny to watch.

walking

here's a couple of videos of our little bug learning to walk.

brooklin's stats at 1 year

this is a little late, but here are brooklin's stats from her 1 year check up with the doc.

height: 30 1/4 in.
weight: 23 lbs.
head circum.: 18 1/4 in.

she is in the 90th percentile for all three. way to go brookie! she is now drinking whole cows milk, and absolutley loves it. she is down to one bottle, at night, just because we're trying to use up the last of her formula so it doesn't go to waste ($$$$). she claps her hands, and knows where her hair, fingers, belly, and "piggies" are. she absolutley adores babies. she waves bye-bye, is loving the fact that her carseat is finally facing forward, and has taken her first steps (7 or 8!). she still only has her two teeth, but that's fine with us, less brushing to worry about right now. :) she will not keep clips or rubber bands in her hair, which has been an ongoing battle between the two of us. i keep threatening her with a haircut because she looks like a ragged little girl when her hair is all over in her face, but i think she knows that it's not gonna happen, and she's definitely winning. she's best buds with her cousin and gets excited by just the mention of his name. she's just a very happy girl that loves exploring this amazing world. she makes her mommy and daddy so proud and happy everyday!
