tarzan, king of the jungle

my dad was wanting to limb up some trees in their backyard yesterday and of course scotty jumped at the chance to monkey around in the trees and use his machete. boys will be boys.

and brooklin discovered how much fun it is to dig in the dirt, but i still think she prefers rocks. :)

biking the north shore

yesterday shanna and jonathan asked us if we wanted to tag along with them and bike the north shore trail at lake whatcom and we of course jumped at the opportunity. about three summers ago scott bought me a bike so we could start biking, nothing too crazy, just for fun. we biked quite a bit that summer and had a lot of fun, and i was totally bummed when i didn't get the chance to go the next summer because i was pregnant and felt pukey. and then last summer we had a little baby and were a little preoccupied. so, of course we were excited to get our bikes out and ride the dust and cobwebs off of 'em. shanna bought a bike trailer a few months ago, so this was even more great because we could take our kids with us. it was a lot of fun and i had forgotton how much i really liked it. and suprisingly the kids didn't kill eachother in the trailer. everytime they would go over a bump brooklin would squeal with enjoyment. they were so cute hanging out in there. hopefully we'll get a few more opportunities to go biking this summer. we definitely have been having the perfect weather so far. shoot! i hope i didn't just jinx us. :)

long weekend

we had such a fun memorial weekend this year. i'm kinda sad it's over and we have to go back to "real" life tomorrow. this is what we've been up to:

Friday night we were planning on going camping with some friends, but decided to bag it for a few reasons, the biggest being that we didn't think brooklin would do too well since it's still pretty chilly at night. so, instead we had a bonfire and made foil dinners and s'mores. so, it was like we were camping, but we got to go home to our nice warm beds at the end of the evening. we had a lot of fun hanging out and cooking over the fire. and brooklin enjoyed playing in the rocks and dirt.

saturday afternoon we went to the ski to sea parade, which has become tradition. brooklin has been going since she was a fetus. :) she was a little more interested this year. she watched about half and spent the other half playing in some rocks in the flowerbed at the church we were sitting in front of. this girl loves rocks for some reason. when she was watching she was really cute. she really liked the marching bands and she waved at everyone passing by, especially the firemen in the fire engines.

after the parade we put brookie down for a nap, which ended up being one of those marathon naps (3+hours) and then ran a few errands. when we got home we decided to start painting brooklin's room. we bought the paint a few months ago, just never got around to it. so, while scotty and i painted, brooklin played in her crib with just about every toy she owns. i think she thought it was pretty cool that everything was in her bed. she was entertained for quite some time, especially because she had a bowl of cheerios in there, which she decided to smash into her sheet. we got about half way done and decided to stop for the evening. so, after vacuuming out brooklin's bed we all hit the sack.

sunday we of course went to church, and then after we finished up our painting project (pictures to come), and then headed over to my parents' for dinner, which was delicious. we also got to use our beautiful singing voices and sing happy birthday to my big bro who just turned... well, it's not polite to tell other peoples' age when they get old. :)

this morning we headed down to seattle to go to the woodland park zoo. we had a blast! the weather was great, the animals were great, and brooklin was great. i love going to the zoo, and i was so glad that scotty took the day off and we were able to have such a fun time together.

when we got back into town we grabbed something to eat and then headed over to my parents' to make some more s'mores. yumm!

so, that was our busy but oh so fun weekend. like i said before, i'm kinda sad i have to go back to "real" life tomorrow, but there's always next weekend, right? :)

playing in the SUN!

we played while everyone else worked in the yard. hanging out with these cuties is a pretty fun gig!

visitors

last thursday we got two suprise vistors: bonnie and miss lucy! they came up to bellingham to suprise my mom and tyler's mom for mother's day. thank you tyler for letting them come, we missed you. so, we got to spend a whole week with them, and i must say it wasn't quite long enough for me. bonnie and i were like best friends growing up, except when we were fighting. :) and it sucks that she's not around all the time, but we'll take what we can get. it was a lot of fun hanging out with my two sisters and my wonderful mother. but i think it was even more fun that our children could all be together and play. i'm so glad that we just happened to get pregnant one after another and have our babies so close in age. it really is a lot of fun to watch them interact with each other. i didn't take nearly enough pictures (shame on me) while they were here. it's so hard to remember to drag out the camera. i guess i need a personal photographer to follow me around and capture all of the fun, cute and special moments. jonathan??? j/k :) among many other things, we shopped, we ate and we played. what else do we ever do when family comes to town??!! here are a few pictures.

still always on the phone! :) love you bon!

milkshakes

she is definitely a jones. ice cream is it's own food group if you ask any of us. but she has a little of her daddy in her too. she loves milkshakes! no matter the flavor, scott tends to add milk to make it a shake. this one happenes to be butterfinger. yummm! brooklin was literally climbing on top of scott just to get a taste.

she ended up finishing it off for him. i can't get enough of this little girl!
